The Role

The BBC are looking for a Head of Marketing for Children, Education and Charities to lead on marketing for our well-loved and famous brands of CBeebies, CBBC, and Bitesize; plus our annual fundraising campaigns for Children in Need, and Comic Relief on BBC One.
This is a permanent role and can be based in either London or Salford.

Main Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced children’s marketer to join the BBC, to lead a small team of around 6 marketing professionals, and to devise and deliver campaigns that help us to reach children of all ages, and their parents. The role will work very closely with our programming and content teams, in order to prioritise programmes (eg. Hey Duggee, Operation Ouch, Horrible Histories), platforms (eg. BBC iPlayer, BBC Sounds, & Bitesize) and channels (CBeebies & CBBC) to deliver against a marketing strategy that creates watching, listening and browsing habits. The role is expected to be split 85% Children’s and Education, and 15% Charities. In the role, you will be leading a team to create and manage campaigns for some of the biggest and best children’s brands in media – including our own BBC channel and platform brands. Stakeholder management will be critical, as we operate in close partnership with other teams to deliver, including an internal creative agency plus a media department.

Are you the right candidate?

We are seeking someone with relevant Children’s marketing experience – ideally from broadcast or digital media – plus experience of managing a small team too. A strong digital marketing background is also important, alongside the ability to operate across both strategy development and also tactical delivery. In return, you will get all the benefits of working at the BBC, and be a part of a highly dynamic marketing team that has strong values of teamwork, care, accountability, collaboration and passion. The role is a member of the BBC Marketing Heads & Portfolio Heads team, who also manage BBC One, Two, Three, Four, iPlayer, Radio 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 Music, 1Xtra, Asian Network, and Sounds. Plus specialisms in BBC Sport, and Social Media too. Arguably, the most exciting and impactful portfolio of brands in media today. It is a fast-paced, fun, rewarding environment, and the right candidate will be someone who has strong self-starter skills, excellence in stakeholder management, and the aptitude to thrive in an environment where teamwork and collaboration is critical to success.
