The Role

Collinson is on a mission to create the most valuable ecosystem for travellers who seek safety, reassurance, comfort and convenience on their travelling journey. An inventory of products including airport lounge access, airport experience membership programmes, travel testing, travel insurance and on-trip medical and security assistance is already distributed in 130+ countries worldwide and consumed by a customer base of over 40 million. Clients including the world’s largest payment networks and banks distribute these products as core benefits on their premium credit card offerings while airlines and hotel groups deliver them as ancillary propositions direct to their consumer bases.

Leveraging its heritage in travel loyalty programmes, Collinson also delivers a range of B2B2C loyalty platforms, programmes and consultancy to a range of clients in multiple sectors. It also leverages 20+ years’ experience in insurance to deliver a broad spectrum of insurance offerings.

Collinson has innovated since its inception, developing the world’s first independent airport lounge membership programme Priority Pass, which 30 years on remains the company’s hero consumer brand with millions of members worldwide. With a dedicated loyalty agency and the UK’s first online travel insurer, innovation is part of Collinson’s DNA. As the business has grown, both organically, M&A and strategic investments, products were separated into new businesses and brands.

Collinson is now in a unique position to bring these together to maximise the value we can bring to clients, leverage synergies across all our products and technology and optimise our data strategy. We will create the world’s most valuable travel platform, serving a global base of affluent consumers, and continue to deliver to highly successful clients including Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Chase, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Air France KLM, Accor and Mandarin Oriental.

Purpose of the Job:

The newly created role of Chief Product & Innovation Officer (CPIO) is an exciting introduction to the Collinson team and part of a current major recruitment drive to bring the best talent into Collinson for critical roles.

As a board-level appointment, reporting to the Joint CEO, is a highly visible leadership role. You will be an experienced and accomplished leader, capable of driving the vision, strategy and execution of our product portfolio. You will create and enhance new product solutions, working with passionate subject matter experts, setting a gold standard Innovation capability aligned across global regions, divisions, and centralised teams

Key Responsibilities:

  • Board level accountability for product strategy and execution of all product-related activities. Establishing the overall portfolio vision and individual product visions, product innovation, product design and development, delivery and ongoing roadmaps and a backlog of both digital and non-digital product assets
  • Be the voice of the customer at the board and within the organisation to ensure our product strategy is customer centric and insight led
  • Accountable for an aligned prioritisation framework that delivers against regional and global priorities.
  • Provide global leadership across our product capability, including both our global development teams as well as regionally embedded product teams
  • Lead an innovation and incubator squad to accelerate our speed to market from concept through to go live, adopting a fail fast approach and iterative approach to MVP delivery
  • Own the data strategy that delivers true data centricity across the product portfolio monetising data assets in a compliant and ethical way
  • Coach, mentor and lead all product resources, elevating our product development capability bringing in a consistent approach through high performing teams
  • Deliver and run an effective product operating model aligned with regional priorities to research, design conceptualise, prototype and develop across the entire product portfolio
  • Work with the Global CTO and regional Business Solutions leads to ensure products are built in a scalable and reusable framework
  • Work with the Global CIO and CTO to define and deliver an aligned technology and platform strategy
  • Work with the Operations Director to ensure all products are serviceable and can be efficiently deployed and run through their lifecycle
  • Represent the group in front of key clients, at events and in media. Demonstrating our thought leadership, innovative approach and understanding of current and future market trends and consumer needs
  • Manage the global product portfolio and own the shadow product P&L to ensure core development spend delivers ROI and is considerate of existing or future gross margin earnings
  • Review, refine, and support product sales strategies
  • Influence product marketing and regional marketing approach
  • Provide a CX and UX service that delivers the best possible consumer and client experience

Knowledge, skills and required experience:

  • Significant digital and non-digital product leadership experience
  • Technically savvy with a clear understanding of technology as an enabler to deliver enhanced customer experiences
  • A history or driving cultural change and in creating a consumer-centric, digital-enabled and data-led organisations
  • An Agile expert with a track record of accelerating go to market velocity, challenging the status quo to find creative solutions to remove development or delivery barriers
  • Experience in building multi-disciplined global squads including external partners and customer stakeholders
  • C-level leaderships credentials able to motive and inspire cross-functional teams with gravitas and clarity
  • Excellent written & spoken English & interpersonal communication able to quickly build the trust of clients and partners and followership of internal teams.
  • Experience in Financial Service/payments and fintech is important. Additional experience in travel and loyalty is desirable
  • Track record in bringing to market commercially successful product launches in both B2C and B2B environments
  • A keen interest in technology and proposition innovation, especially in payments, e-commerce and ideally travel
